About Me
Hello, I’m Jay (Jayangi), an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), providing counselling and emotional wellbeing support through Thrive Together.
I have worked in the social work and wellbeing field since 2019, with experience across mental health, aged care, hospital and community settings. My background includes supporting individuals through the NDIS, My Aged Care, and domestic and family violence services.
I provide counselling for individuals experiencing stress, anxiety, low mood, relationship challenges and life transitions. My approach is compassionate, trauma-informed and person-centred, creating a safe space for reflection, healing and personal growth.
My experience as a childcare educator has also strengthened my understanding of children, families and the challenges people may experience at different stages of life.
Through counselling and psychoeducation, I support individuals to navigate life’s challenges, strengthen relationships and communication, improve emotional wellbeing, and develop practical coping strategies.
I also offer creative arts-based activities in individual and group settings, providing a gentle and supportive way to explore emotions, reduce stress and encourage self-reflection. No previous art experience is needed.
My approach is warm, respectful and collaborative. I aim to create a safe and supportive environment where each person feels heard, understood and empowered to work towards their personal goals.
I offer telehealth counselling, with mobile services, home visits and outdoor sessions available upon request.
No referral is needed to access private counselling; however, a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan is required to access eligible Medicare rebates.
WHAT TO EXPECT
I believe you are the expert in your own life. My role is to provide a safe, supportive space where we can explore your experiences, understand your challenges and identify new ways forward. I recognise that the stories we tell ourselves can shape how we see our lives, and that with support, we can explore new perspectives and possibilities for change.
Together, we will work towards changes that support your mental health and emotional wellbeing. This may include exploring practical strategies around sleep, nutrition, physical activity, breathing and managing everyday stress.
Our sessions will be guided by your individual needs, goals and preferences. Where appropriate, I may also recommend referrals to other services to ensure you receive the support that best meets your needs
All therapy services available from: 8am–6pm, Weekends
Weekday appointments may be offered on request depending on availability
